Settings of 6 or fewer people are represented by five figures in front of a single story residence. The number of people living in settings of six or fewer people increased 95% from 225,318 in 1999 to 439,329 in 2019.
Settings of 7 to 15 people are represented by 9 figures in front of a 2 story building. The number of people living in settings of 7 to 15 people remained steady at 53,136 in 1999 and 52,979 in 2019.
Settings of 16 or more people are represented by 16 figures standing in front of a large institutional building. The number of people with IDD living in settings of 16 or more people decreased 59% from 82,718 in 1999 to 34,209 in 2019.
The total number of people getting LTSS while living in a setting other than the home of a family member grew from 361,172 in 1999 to 526,517 in 2019. The proportion living in settings of six or fewer people increased by 95% from 225,318 to 439,329. The proportion living in settings of seven to fifteen people stayed the same. The proportion living in settings of 16 or more people declined by 59% from 82,718 to 34,209. In 1999, only 27% of people in non-family settings lived in settings of six or fewer people. By 2018, 82% of people lived in settings of six or fewer people.
