The family of one of your student sends you questions three or four times a week, through email, voicemail, and texts. The questions are about many different things having to do with the school, not only about the student’s progress. Any time you have a phone call with them, it lasts at least an hour.
A common assumption: This parent is overly concerned, and you try to avoid getting them on the phone. You send cheerful messages that focus on the student’s C&C data, ignoring their questions about everything else.
Reflection Question
How could a shift in Approach, Attitude, or Atmosphere support one of the strategies you could use with this family?
