PROMISE: Lessons learned from six model demonstration projects through the Promoting Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income Project

California

Wordmark for California PROMISE.

The California Department of Rehabilitation (CDOR) served as the lead agency for CaPROMISE, and the recipient of the cooperative agreement with the California Department of Education. Representatives from five state agencies served on the CaPROMISE Interagency Council to support and collaborate with the program. CDOR contracted with 18 local educational agencies (LEAs), a community organization and the Interwork Institute at San Diego State University to implement CaPROMISE. The program based all interventions on person-driven planning and family engagement with a focus on high school completion, unpaid and paid work experiences, benefits planning, and postsecondary education and training.
