Representative Samples

A sample is considered representative if the characteristics (e.g., age, race, etc.) of participants in the sample are similar to those of the target population.

For example, if your target population is adults aged 18 to 65 years, but your sample only includes adults who are 18 to 30 years old, that sample would not be representative.
