The process of measuring, analyzing, communicating, and taking action, when appropriate, with the goal of improving the quality of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) is referred to as data-driven decision making in HCBS.
Measurement results are used to make decisions and act in ways to improve the services or programming of the organization.
Decisions could include:
Actions or changes to improve the quality/outcomes of services
Changing an organization’s policies
Requesting additional funding to improve service
Maintaining current practice(s) based on the data
Continuing to measure or measuring new areas to gather more information
Deciding results meet the standards and not making changes to a service program
