Cognitive Engagement

Control and Relevance of School Work (CRSW)

Discuss how school contributes to achieving their personal goals.

Future Aspirations and Goals (FG)

Teach methods of self-regulation to maintain effort on a task, including connecting the task to the student’s goals.

Intrinsic Motivation (IM)

Discuss with the student the role of effort and personal choice in achieving goals.

Affective Engagement

Teacher-Student Relationships (TSR)

Support the student’s teachers to increase relationships with the student, giving appropriate insights and suggesting techniques.

Peer Support at School (PSS)

Help the student develop social skills and connect to school activities or clubs of interest to them.

Family Support for Learning (FSL)

Work with parents/guardians to increase their engagement in school to support student goals.
