“Check” Data

You have been assigned to be Sophia’s Check & Connect mentor. Sophia is a freshman at Central High School. Her first-hour teacher says she is very quiet and does not interact much with the other students.

You know that she was identified as a Check & Connect student due to low grades in some of her courses and an inconsistent attendance record.

In your first meeting with her, Sophia tells you that she wants to do well in school. Her goal is to go to college, become a nurse, and support her family.
