The Mentor Practice Profile (MPP)

What is the Mentor Practice Profile?

Developed in response to questions about the role of the mentor, the Mentor Practice Profile (MPP) explains in detail essential elements and practices needed to be an effective Check & Connect mentor.

The critical components of the C&C mentor position include:

  • building relationships with students
  • systematic monitoring and analysis of student-level “Check” data
  • providing personalized “Connect” interventions
  • engaging with families

Check & Connect coordinators support mentors by helping them identify strengths and areas for improving their practice. The MPP is a useful tool for both Check & Connect mentors and coordinators. Mentors can use it as a tool to guide their practice and identify areas to improve their mentor skills. The MPP also helps coordinators identify the professional development needs among all mentors.
