In 2017, 28,910 people with intellectual or developmental disabilities lived in a facility run by the state. Most (more than 6 of every 10) lived in institutions with 16 or more people. Only 2 of every 10 lived in homes with 7 to 15 people. One in 10 lived with 4 to 6 people. Very few (less than 1 in 10) lived in homes shared with one or two other people getting supports.
