HCBS recipients per 100,000 by State
Map of the United States showing the number of Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver recipients per 100,000 people in each state in 2020. 288 people with IDD received Medicaid Waiver funded supports for every 100,000 people in the United States. The number ranged from 81 people per 100,000 in Nevada to 746 people per 100,000 in Iowa.
13 states provided HCBS to 81 to 200 people per 100,000 in 2020: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
23 states provided HCBS to between 201 and 400 people per 100,000 in 2020: Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Washington.
13 states that HCBS to between 401 and 746 people per 100,000 in 2020: Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Two states did not furnish these data in 2020: South Dakota and West Virginia.
