Working Smarter Not Harder By Combining Planning Processes

Some teams may have learned more about strategic plans or accreditation efforts in the organization during the assessment in Module 4. These teams may have also learned that it can take time to create a plan for aligning different efforts. However, it can be hepful to take the time to align planning processes.  Administrators and managers will find it easier to allocate staff time for improving person-centered and positive support practices if funds can be leveraged and duplication avoided.

If team members do not know much about the organization's planning activities, take some time to gather more information. Steps for learning more about strategic plans or accreditation efforts include:

  • Inviting new team members to meetings where existing team members may be leading other strategic action plan or accreditation efforts,
  • Asking the CEO or other leaders to describe the key mission, goals, and actions taking place at an upcoming team meeting, and
  • Scheduling a time for key members of different planning groups to brainstorm together about how the person-centered action plan might address other HCBS goals.
