Confirming Readiness Before Moving Forward

Thumbs up and thumbs down.

One way to confirm that your organization is ready to move forward is to ask each person to vote using a simple yes or no format. The team will be more likely to make real changes in HCBS if 80% or more of the people involved vote in favor of implementing person-centered and positive support practices.  Small provider teams can send out an email to ask staff and people supported to vote. Another option is to ask a team member to attend a regular meeting to check in with staff. Larger providers:

  • Use staff meetings,
  • Email a survey out to everyone, or
  • Ask managers to gather votes from staff members.

Each provider can decide the best way to find out if  people are ready to improve services using person-centered and positive support practices.

Activity

Please use the MN Team Checklist and the HCBS Planning Tool to complete the activity.

Minnesota Team Checklist.  Item number 9 in the Staff Committment section.  The team assesses how ready people are to work on person-centered and positive practices. Score the checklist: 0 – planning not yet started, 1 – in progress, or 2 – fully in place.
