Using Data to Guide Team Meetings

Item 20 on the Minnesota Team Checklist is used to remind teams to use the data collected during action planning to guide decision-making during meetings. One way to work smarter not harder is to assess what information is already being summarized within the organization. These summaries can help the team track progress and may already be prepared. For instance, many organizations already summarize data on staff retention and attrition on a quarterly basis.

The team can start by reviewing the types of HCBS data that are already being collected. Discuss whether any of these data can help the team monitor progress on the goals that have been developed. Modules 7 and 8 will help teams think about how to use data to assess progress and problem solve during meetings.

What types of data does your organization already collect? What data should you start collecting? How can the data collected be used to assess progress on your SMARTIE goals? How will you bring and use this information to meetings?
